戦前の歌謡 その386 Ninon

Jan Kiepura- Ninon (Kaper) (in German)1932
Jan Kiepura (1902-1966)
Written especially for Kiepura by composer Bronislau Kaper, "Ninon" became a song forever associated with the Polish tenor and matinee idol. He recorded it at least 3 times in the 1930s (in French, German, and Polish), all very well done, but I maintain a slight preference for the earliest of these, the 1932 German version recorded by Odeon.
While some contemporary listeners might consider a song like "Ninon" to be dated and treacly, I find it tender, charming, and quite touching. With orchestral accompaniment by Frieder Weissman, Kiepura sings sweetly, with great feeling, and some very beguiling head tones.
